Greetings everyone and welcome to the site! I’m Kate, the photographer. My husband and I just moved back to Boston from Australia (I’m from Boston, he’s an Aussie) and we’re settling here in this amazing city for a while. After almost 8 years living across the seas I’m very excited to finally be back home!
I’ve had a passion for photography for as long as I can remember. Until recently it was always just a hobby, but with time in Australia before our planned move home I made the decision to finally take the leap and go back to school for it. Other than marrying my husband, it is probably the best decision I have ever made. At the end of last year I completed my Advanced Diploma of Photography degree at The Photography Studies College in Melbourne, Australia. While studying there, I was able to spend time assisting and learning the ropes of wedding photography from an amazing mentor, Jane Poynter of Ms Jane Photography, who was kind enough to take me under her wing. The last 3 years have been filled with lessons and experience that I will hold onto forever. I’m so glad I took the chance to change my career to one that I absolutely love, adore and have so much fun with.
To me, photography is so much more than the perfect smile or perfect pose. I love capturing quiet moments when no one is aware that I’m snapping away. The look of a father when he first sees his daughter in a wedding dress on her wedding day or the touch of a mother’s hand on her son’s shoulder as he gets dressed in his wedding suit. Some of my favorite wedding photos are when the bride and groom have a moment to themselves after the ceremony and can just bask in the glow of finally being married. I love capturing kids running around with the wind in their hair, playing with a favorite toy or family pet or tied up in fits and giggles wrapped in blankets. My style is very candid and interactive and capturing the moments where you are just being you is what I simply love about photography. For me, photography is about capturing life and the moments that we never want to forget. Remembering your baby’s toothless grin or when they first started walking or when your teenage boy would still smile for a photo before it became too uncool. It’s about being able to tell a story through pictures of not only the big important days in our lives but also the quiet, rainy, mundane days when life is slowly happening all around us. I love being able to capture and share images of your lives with you in photographs that will help you remember those moments forever.
My hope is that I will be able to share this gift of photography with you. We all know that time usually passes in the blink of an eye and hopefully, what we’re left with are a bunch of beautiful memories, filling not only our hearts but the walls of our homes as well.
